of Tennessee |
Nurses for Newborns of Tennessee is a
home visitation agency staffed by registered
nurses, serving families in Nashville
and 18 surrounding counties. The agency’s
primary focus is to ensure health, growth
and development of babies most at-risk for
abuse, neglect and infant mortality. This organization targets
the most critical period in an infant’s
life, which is the prenatal period through
age two. Their approach to ensuring the
infants health is by serving the family as a
whole. The services of Nurses for Newborns are a combination of
medical and social services. Many have a
broad range of risk factors in addition to
lower socio-economic status. The agency serves families living in the inner city, as well as
those in outlying rural areas. Since operations
began in October 2001, they have
received over 6,700 referrals and have
completed over 31,000 home visits to
more than 5,500 babies and their families.
